EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY
It is not too late to enroll in Ware's Education for Ministry (EFM) program that reconvenes in September. This four-year course of study in Bible, Church History, and Contemporary Christian Thought is challenging and enriching. Students enroll for one year at a time, can stop and restart when life circumstances require, and transfer to other areas of the country and around the globe if needed. At the same time, each seminar group is a community of faith and friendship. Final enrollment for the 2005-06 Education for Ministry (EFM) group will be have to be completed by mid-August in order for the group to start meeting in mid-September. Seminars will be held on Sunday evenings, but the group usually does not meet on major Holidays or Festival Sundays. Time and place for the meetings will be decided after the group is formed. Please call Louisa Jones at 642-1471 or Dr. Grace Long at 757-220-1108 (email gracelong@cox.net) if you want more information or would like to enroll.

It will be up to our guests to determine who is responsible for the death of private eye, Chase Diamond. Party guests play parts such as Les Baggs (a clumsy tourist), Leilani (a Hawaiian hula dancer), Chief Honikaua Wiki-Wiki (a chief of royal Polynesian descent) and others. The Lethal Luau is on Sunday, July 24th at 4:00 p.m. at the home of Stephanie Hanson (the elder). R. S. V. P. by Tuesday, July 19th to Pete Hanson at 694-0373 or at hanson3@cox.net. PRAYER BOOKS FOR WARE CHURCH
The Episcopal Church has authorized four Prayer Books since its first one in 1789. Others were published in 1892, 1928 and 1976. The 1976 Book was issued as the Proposed Bo ok of Common Prayer and adopted by The General Convention of the Episcopal Church in 1979. Almost thirty years ago the proposed book was purchased and placed in the church and parish house for corporate worship. These books have begun to lose pages in the Daily Morning Prayer service and the Holy Eucharist. The congregation is invited to donate one or more Prayer Books at a cost of $20.00 each. The books will have memorial book plates with space for a loved one's name. Please contact the church office if you wish to make a donation.

KING OF THE JUNGLE
Summer Music Camp is a fun-filled, action-packed wacky and wonderful week for children ages 5 through and including teenagers. This year's theme is "King of the Jungle" and will feature songs and activities about the animals found in the Bible. Activities include singing, crafts, rhythm games, handchime instruction, outdoor water games and prizes. All these activities will culminate with a presentation on Sunday, August 21st during the 10:30 service. Camp hours are 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. The cost for participation is $10 for the entire week. (What a bargain!) Parents are encouraged to help with the daily activities. For more information, contact Dee Johnston at 804-843-3447 or deejnston@aol.com.

FOOD PANTRY INGATHERING - July 3rd and August 7th
Help the Salvation Army to help others. Ware Church members have been bringing staples and paper products for the Salvation Army pantry for many years. During the summer there is a need for pasta, cereal, and canned meats as well as paper products–paper towels, paper napkins, toilet paper. Clear mailing tape is also needed for putting together Christmas boxes. Bring your gifts July 3rd and August 7th or to the sacristy in the Parish House during the week. There are a couple of guidelines for gifts to the pantry:

  • No opened boxes or partially used boxes or items.
  • Check the date on canned goods and items that you are donating.

  • PRAYER CHAIN MEETS JULY 13th
The Ware Church Prayer Chain gathers for fellowship, prayer and the Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. July 13th in the Chapel. After the Holy Eucharist, they gather in the Library to pray for friends and church members. For prayer requests, please call Bruce Forsberg (776-7734), Anne Clark (693-4026), or Jane Van Leeuwen (693-3500).

    FROM THE EDITOR
Last month's congratulations on the Marshall-Ortega wedding erroneously spelled the bride's name as Sarvia Ortega. Philip Taliaferro Marshall married Sonia Ortega. Philip is the son of Betty Marshall and the late Beverley Marshall. Mea culpa!

    SCHOOL CLOTHING
The Ware Church Mission Committee will again help needy children in Gloucester with clothing and school supplies before school begins in September. Look for the annual letter explaining more about this project.
