ALL SAINTS' DAY, UNITED THANK OFFERING INGATHERING, HOLIDAY SALE AND RECITAL ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD
All Saints' Day, one of the seven principal feasts of the church, is a much beloved celebration of the faithful departed. It is believed that the commemoration of All Saints on November 1st began in Ireland, spread to England and then to Europe. In other parts of the church this feast was observed on May 13th or the Sunday after Pentecost, which we now know as Trinity Sunday. On Sunday, November 3rd, you may remember your loved ones in the service during the Prayers of the People.
Also on this Sunday, the Episcopal Church Women will receive the Fall Ingathering of the United Thank Offering. Blue Boxes for your gifts that fold and jingle in your pocket are on the church porch table. UTO envelopes are included in this Grapevine.
Come to Ware's African Team Ministries Holiday Sale on this Sunday and do lots of Christmas shopping! There will be African jewelry, books, toys, knickknacks, and copies of Ware's history. The Youth will wrap gifts and sell Christmas wreaths.
A 350th celebration event this Sunday is a Recital of Sacred Organ Music presented at Ware Episcopal Church by Giles Cooke, Music Director of Williamsburg Baptist Church at 4 p.m. A reception follows in the Parish Hall.
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONGREGATION
The Annual Meeting of the Congregation of Ware Episcopal Church is at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 17th. The meeting begins with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The agenda includes the presentation of the proposed 2003 Budget, election of four Vestry members and various other reports to the congregation.
FROM THE RECTOR
Dear Parishioners,
In these last months we as a community and a nation have learned new realities about the stability, peace and safety we have taken for granted. Conversations may include observations and concerns about the market, terrorism or even where to stop to purchase gasoline. Which one of us has not been concerned for family and friends in the Washington D.C. area, New York or even the nearby community of Ashland?
The gift of this November is an opportunity to focus on the source of our safety and freedom: our faith in a loving and caring God, our families, our friends, and our community. Thanksgiving Day, giving thanks, and being thankful are universal themes that hold us together. Being thankful is a way of sustaining our lives and relationships - it helps us and others know that we are loved and appreciated.
Things have changed since September a year ago but the relationships and people who give meaning to our lives are still here. During this month give thanks to God and let others know you are thankful for their love and friendship. Let us also rejoice in what is right and good and wonderful!
Faithfully yours,
Peter Worthington

MUSIC NOTES
Parish Epiphany
Pageant Preparation
Plans are being made for our Epiphany Pageant which is scheduled for Sunday, January 5, 2003. The pageant, "Light of the World" by Mark Patterson, combines original songs and familiar Christmas carols from around the world to tell the Christmas story. The pageant features narration, drama and songs. This pageant is a wonderful opportunity for the entire Ware Church family to begin the new year by celebrating the gift of Christ's light in the world. We hope this will be an event that incorporates all ages; so if you want to be a part of this celebration, there are many areas where you can help. We need narrators, actors, singers, set workers/builders, and costume helpers. Please call Dee Johnston, 804-843-3447 or the church office.
MORE HANDBELLS ORDERED
Exciting news! The money has been raised for the fourth octave of handbells. Donations from the handbell concert and the John DeHardit Fund have enabled us to place the order. Consider joining this group and glorifying the Lord!
