Read the September 2008 newsletter! (file will open as a Word document) We are a non-denominational cooperative playgroup consisting of parents, grandparents and /or other caregivers and their children (ages birth to 5). Our goal is to provide a nurturing and socially stimulating playtime for our children, as well as an opportunity for stay at home parents to 'get out' and interact. ![]() We are located at the Ware Episcopal Church in Gloucester, Va. and meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10:00 -12:00 o'clock (Wednesdays and Thursdays during the summer). There is no membership fee, because we rely on the donations and volunteer work from our members, as well as corporate sponsorships and community outreach, to meet the needs of the program. BOARD: The Family Room is lead by our Director, Sister Colleen Magill, who is in charge of daily activities. The Advisory Board consists of ALL members of the Family Room. All issues regarding the operation, fund-raising and general interests of the Family Room are discussed and voted on at the monthly planning meeting by all who attend. Every family is invited and encouraged to attend the monthly planning meeting. There are annual elections in May to select a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary as well as other positions.
To maintain our cooperative status we ask that each family contribute by either donating $10/ month, providing $10 worth of supplies or volunteering 2 hours a month toward a fundraiser. We have many fundraisers throughout the year providing many opportunities to contribute. Upon their first visit all new families will be given a contract of participation outlining these guidelines to review. Please come join the fun!
