A Message from the Discernment Committee
Friday, November 8, 2019
Thank you to all who attended the congregational “Focus Group” lunch and meeting we held on the 27th of October. We had an important discussion, with a wonderful turnout of 40 and delicious food to boot! We asked for responses to questions centered around participants' hopes for Ware Church, both in the short and long term, and their thoughts on what we value about our congregation. Our discussion provided the opportunity for community reflection on what we do well, what we can do better, and how we can discern what God calls us to be. The reports from the small groups into which we structured our time together were notable in their unanimity and consensus. Those gathered last Sunday spoke affirmingly of our present strengths, and also articulated aspirations for our congregation: to grow, both in spirituality and in numbers, to treat one another with respect, to practice acceptance and inclusion, and to carry boldly Christ’s message of love into the world. For those of you who could not be with us, we invite you to reflect on and to share with the Discernment Committee what you most value about Ware Church and what are your own hopes for our parish community. Anyone who would like to see the written list of detailed responses at the October 27 meeting, which we captured on a white board and in informal notes, please contact committee chair Elizabeth Roane. In the coming weeks we will share with the Vestry our Community Ministry Portfolio, following which we will send it on to the Bishop for approval. When this process is satisfactorily completed, our Portfolio will be posted on the Diocesan website. Then we will begin to receive names for the position of rector of Ware Church!

Rector Search Focus Group Meeting and Luncheon
Sunday, October 27, 2019
Please Join Us on Sunday, October 27th following the 10:30 Service for a most important gathering. Search Committee Update Bridging information-gathering between “Who Are We Now” and “Who is God Calling Us to Be Next?” Thank you to everyone who has so thoughtfully completed their surveys! The purpose of this kind of information gathering is to know who our parish is, in itself and in its community, warts and beauty marks and all. To know whom we might call, we need to know who we are first. Knowing our parish identity will help us ascertain, at least in part, where we might be going in the future, and that will help us see which candidate’s gifts match the needs of our parish in the years to come. It also lays the groundwork for the strategic planning that every parish should do; so, it is time well-spent. We are planning on hosting a Focus Group on the 27th of October after the 10:30 service. Lunch will be provided. Please try to attend. It’s another effective way of gathering information about the parish and its hopes, fears and aspirations. “Put God in charge of your work, then what you have planned will take place” Proverbs 16 Your Search Committee Team: Elizabeth Roane, Susan Jenkins, Wes Jones, Chuck Crook, Mary Montague, Rick Zima, Bryan Hartley
