162 APVA
BENEATH THIS STONE
And near the remains
of an only and dearly loved
Sister
Repose the mortal part of
ROBERT ALLMAND
who departed this life
Feb. 11, 1835
in his 25th. year.

Admonished in early life by the approach
of the disease so fatal to his family he gave his
youthful heart to God, & in fullness of faith
received the summons to death as a welcome messenger
to release him from suffering and bear his spirit to
that happier state of excellence where the weary
are at rest.
Anderson, George Dabney
1760/10/8 - 1771/9/9

Stone only, moved from Exchange. (Epitaphs, 1959)

GEORGE DABNEY ANDERSON
[Son of
Mathew and Mary Anderson]
who was born October 8th 1760
and departed this Life
Septem 9th 1771

Snatch'd in his Dawn (how fwift our Bleffing fly)
here the fond hopes of his griev'd Parents lye
But ceafe to weep, look up ye mournful pair
Behold your Darling a bright Seraph there
See how he beckons from yon diftant Sphere
Here fix your Hopes, he cries, your
Treasure's here.

Embodying in a manly frame a vigorous and cultivated

disposition genial and generous,
He had commenced under happy auspices
and amid general esteem a career
of honor and usefulness, but a vic-
tim to untimely disease, he could only by his noble
constancy under suffering and the Christian resigna-

in life must have achieved for him success and dis-

gloriously displayed in a blessed immortality.

Major Gen. W B Taliaferro was a lawyer, judge, Virginia legislator, and (unsuccessful) candidate for governor after the Civil War. He served in the US Army Infantry during the Mexican-American War and was a Confederate Major General during the Civil War, and seriously wounded in the battle of Second Manassas. He recovered and was the commander of Ft. Wagner, outside of Charleston, made famous by the historic (and unsuccessful) charge of the 54th Massachusetts in the movie, "Glory". Taliaferro Hall at William & Mary is named after him and the Taliaferro Family. He died at his Gloucester home, "Dunham Massie". Honored Gloucester Resident.
